I love Kingston and volunteer most of my free time for many organizations and committees to help our city thrive. I am currently a member of the City's Historic Landmarks Preservation Commission and the Kingston Land Trust's Rail Trail Committee. In recent years, I have also served as a member of the Kingston Tidal Waterfront Flooding Task Force and the Climate Action Task Force, where a great group of involved citizens worked together for over a year to develop plans to help Kingston remain strong and resilient in the face of changing conditions.
Serving the community is the focus of my life and career. My grandparents and parents taught me to volunteer and participate in community. I have been serving the public -- as a volunteer, community development specialist, and urban planner -- for over 30 years. As an urban planner, I spend a lot of time studying law and developing policies. This has prepared me to be a legislator: approaching issues from a logical perspective and thoughtfully considering many points of view.
As an urban planner, I have always been driven by a desire to help communities grow stronger and to leave a better world for future generations. I help many communities and organizations in Ulster County to develop business and economic development strategies, win funding for development and beautification, and create new plans, programs and projects. As Deputy Director of Planning at Ulster County for 8 years, I helped the county take many positive steps in economic development, open space and natural resource protection, recreation, and waterfront planning.
As a single parent of a young boy, I am committed to being a role model by leaving the world a better place for his generation and those that follow, beginning with my own community. As an Ulster County Legislator, I put these skills and my dedication to our community to work for Kingston. Please share your ideas for Kingston with me!
